Missions for Fugitives

Hi all,

Today we’re announcing a big change in our game mechanics : Fugitive has to complete missions in order to win a game.

Most users have been feeling that chaser is much more fun than fugitive. One big reason for this is that fugitive has been always passive in their game play. Their goal has been “just” run away from chaser, and don’t be caught for some hours. This has given little motivation to them, and some of them consistently told us to add some feature to motivate them to move around!

From today, fugitives will win a game when they are done with their missions. There will be six missions a game for fugitives, and their goal is to complete all the missions while not being caught by chaser.

We hedgehogs hope this could make game play more active, and they have much more fun.

Please give us your feedback about this.

Sincerely,

Hedgehogs.

Game Play Time Changed to 3 Hours

Hi guys!

Did you notice that we have designed different costumes for each city? If not, please visit Catch Me If You Can again, and you will see funny traditional costumes for each country.

Today we would like to anounce a big change in game mechanics.

We’ve got plenty of feedbacks about game mechanic from our users :
“24 hours is too long. Reevaluate the game play time.”
“It takes too much time for flight. I can’t wait for it.”
“Fugitive has little motivation to move to another city.”

After long discussion, we fiannly decided to change the game mechanic.

First of all, the game play time will be changed from 24 hrs to 3 hrs.
It means flight time also is decreasing dramatically. It will be applied today.

Secondly, fugitive’s winning condition will be changed from “just run away” to “complete mission while running away”. This will be applied next week.

We hope that our users will enjoy much speedier game play in this environment.

If you have any feedbacks, please let us know.

Sincerely,
Hedgehogs

New Feature : Talk Box

Today we added small, but big feature : Talk Box (beta)

We’ve got many feedback from our users that they’d like to TALK during game play, and we think it makes very sense.

Talk Box is for that purpose, and it enables you to communicate not only with players but also with your friends!

blah

Click the new icon which says “blah blah”, and you will see two tabs in there.

  • Tab 1 <To Friends > : Your TALK will be sent to all of your friends.
  • Tab 2 <To Players> : You TALK will be sent to players who are playing with you. In other words, there always will be two to four players in a game, and this is just for them.

We believe this small feature will make a big difference in interaction between users. Furthermore, the feature will be improved dramatically in a few days. (Please remember that it will be beta for the time being.)

Please enjoy it!

We’re modifying Game Process a little bit

This post is to nofify Catch Me If You Can users of the fact that we’re modifying game process a little bit.

We’ve found out that many users who have chosen Fugitive as their characters do not proceed with the game. In other words, as soon as they see the intro game for fugitive (Cannon Shooting Game), they stopped playing it. This means they do not even start the main game itself. We’ve performed some surveys about this, and our conclusion is that they are not that interested in the intro game, and do not want to continue playing the game itself.

So, we’ve decided to remove the intro game for fugitive. Though it was painful for us to remove a game that we have made ourselves, we believe users’ feedback is always the best answer.

What does it mean that we remove intro game for fugitive?

When you are to choose fugitive as your character, you’ll be given specific amount of cashes according to our algorithm, and will be directly enrolled in fugitive list. Chasers will have much wider options in choosing fugitives.

This modification will be done by today, and you will see the changed process from tomorrow.

We hope that this decision would make more Catch Me If You Can users enjoy the game.

Any feedback will be welcomed. We appreciate you interest and feedback.

Tip added : How to win Arrest Game?

Arrest Game is a kind of Tower Defense Game which is being loved by many fans.

In Catch Me If You Can, you will play Arrest Game when you’re successful in tracking down the fugitive, and arriving at a city where she is staying at the moment. You have to block most of enemies from running out to the exit.

We’ve got some complaints from users that it is too hard to win.

We think it makes sense. It’s not easy for novice to win the game.

However, there absolutely are ways to win. Here we would like to share some tips with you.

1. Deploy towers strategically

There are three towers that you can deploy. Each of them has its own unique characteristics. They differ in every factor like range, power, interval, effect, etc.

Therfore, you have to deploy them in a strategic way as much as possible.

Even though Laser Turret is the most powerful one, you can not depend on it from the first time. How about deploying just lots of cannons? You will be frustrated to see how weak their bullets are. Oil tower will be essential for effective defense.

Try to mix them in a delicate way, and you will smell the victory.

2. Get a help from your friends

We believe social games like Catch Me If You Can should have social factors in the game itself.

If you have friends (at least one) enjoying the same game, their pictures will be shown at Arrest Game’s menu bar. Drag and drop the picture to road on the main game stage, and they will turn into blocks which will damage your enemies. This will make it much easier. According to my experience, having about 10 ~ 20 friends is really helpful.

If you are having trouble in winning this game, please invite some of your friends to Catch Me If You Can.

BTW, Arrest Game in Catch Me If You Can has been built using the code by Garth Henson.

Special thanks to Garth!  —> Visit his blog
